This program is concerned with the leadership challenges and opportunities faced by women within complex organisational cultures. It has been designed to increase the effectiveness, visibility and resilience of women in leadership roles in the tertiary sector. In particular it is designed to increase understanding of organisational cultures and to explore strategies to negotiate institutional barriers and obstructions experienced by women.
Program features include:
- High profile speakers and commentators from government, the public sector as well as lobbyists share their experiences as women leaders.
- Special presentations from ‘high achievers’ and women who have overcome significant hurdles to reach their goals.
- Case studies developed by women in leadership roles from the VET and HE sectors.
- Development groups to encourage peer mentoring and professional networks.
- Opportunities to explore the national capital’s cultural institutions
This course is designed for women from Australian and New Zealand universities, polytechnics, TAFE Colleges and private training institutions including those from the relevant target groups identifi ed in the Second AVCC/Universities Australia Action Plan for Women Employed in Australian Universities (2006-2010):
- Women in senior leadership positions such as deans, directors and senior managers.
- Women at Australian university academic levels C, D and E who exercise leadership within their organisation or as external representatives of their discipline or institution.
- Women in administrative leadership roles at Australian university HEW level 8 and above.
